SLASSCOM announces National Ingenuity Awards 2025

The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) has announced the launch of the seventh annual SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards (SNIA) 2025. 

The premier event, which recognises technological innovation and ingenuity across all sectors, will highlight Sri Lankan talent making a significant impact globally. The awards ceremony will take place in June, where winners will be celebrated at a grand gala for their contributions to innovation, ethics, and leadership in technology.

Recognising innovation across all sectors

The SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards serve as a cornerstone in recognising excellence across a range of industries, demonstrating how technology has amplified positive change in Sri Lanka. These prestigious awards will also celebrate the visionary contributions of individuals, teams, startups, and organisations within the IT and business sectors, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s position as a global leader in ethical innovation and technological advancement.

Speaking on the launch of this year’s awards, SLASSCOM Chairman Nishan Mendis said, “Technology is transforming industries, and Sri Lanka’s ingenuity is playing an increasingly critical role on the global stage. We believe that by recognising and celebrating innovation across all sectors, we can drive further impact and attract much-needed global investment into the country.”

Award categories: A broad spectrum of innovation

The 2025 awards will recognise innovation across a diverse range of categories, including Best Innovative Product/Project in Fintech and Banking, Transportation and Logistics, Agritech and Manufacturing, Hospitality and Tourism, E-commerce and Retail, and Edutech and Healthtech. Additional categories will celebrate excellence in Government Innovation, Woman Technopreneur of the Year, Best Tech for Good Software Innovation, and Best Innovative Product/Project – General. Other awards include Best Innovation in Internal Processes, Technology, or Framework (RPA), Best Startup, and Best Innovative Product/Project in Schools and Universities.

Building capacity and empowering startups 

SLASSCOM aims to not only recognise established enterprises but also empower the startup community and emerging talent in schools and universities. This initiative not only provides a steppingstone for future entrepreneurs but also helps to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. In doing so, SLASSCOM fosters a vibrant innovation ecosystem that empowers all levels of the tech community, ensuring a continual pipeline of talent and ideas that will shape Sri Lanka’s future.

By focusing on small businesses with big ideas, the awards seek to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations, attract investment, and contribute to the growth of Sri Lanka’s economy. Commenting on the value created by the awards, SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards Committee Chair Haridhu Abeygoonaratne said, “Creating tech intellectual property is the key to building a $ 5 billion tech industry by 2030.
