SLMBC forum today on ’Sri Lanka’s Economic Direction 2020 and Beyond’

A forum discussing Sri Lanka’s economic direction for 2020, organised by the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council, will take place today from 6 p.m. at the Anthurium Hall, Galadari Hotel. 

The event will include some of the country’s key business and economic leaders, who will discuss the potential for Sri Lanka’s national and foreign direct investment. The forum will also address future economic policies, key areas for development, export earnings, development of the tourism industry, port developments, and how local businesses can invest and expand.

Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and Sri Lanka Tourism former Chairman and current advisor to the Government Dr. Nalaka Godahewa will deliver the keynote address. 

This will be followed by a panel discussion comprising Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Gen. Daya Ratnayake, Board of Investment Head of Investment Promotion Prasanjith Wijayathilaka, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chief Economist Shiran Fernando and Malaysia Sri Lanka Business Chamber President Dato Kulasegaran Sabaratnam. High Commissioner for Malaysia in Sri Lanka Tan Yang Thai will be the Guest of Honour.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim.
