Ensuring access to digital solutions for everyone, SLT-Mobitel, together with Sri Lanka Railways and the Department of Pensions, enabled pensioners to enjoy a seamless railway transport experience by integrating the pension warrant process into SLT-Mobitel’s state-of-the-art mTicketing platform.

Launching the digitalisation of the pension warrant took place recently at the Colombo Divisional Secretariat, with senior representatives from State institutions, Sri Lanka Railways, the Department of Pensions, and SLT-Mobitel in attendance.

Previously, eTickets and eWarrants were available for public and Government servants through SLT-Mobitel’s fully-fledged digital system to reserve tickets online. Symbolising an important advancement in the modernisation of railway services in Sri Lanka, now pensioners too can book train tickets conveniently from the comfort of their homes through the user-friendly digital platform.

SLT-Mobitel, as the national ICT solutions provider, takes pride in extending digital solutions to serve the nation’s pensioners. The initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to digital transformation while extending appreciation for the years of service pensioners have unstintingly given towards the country.

The launch builds on the success of SLT-Mobitel’s online reservation system unveiled last year for general passengers. The extension to include pension warrants represents an important step forward to ensure that railway ticketing is now completely digitalised for all user segments.

The initiative is also part of SLT-Mobitel’s broader pledge to support Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey, particularly in digitalising State-owned enterprises through superior connectivity solutions. The initiative aligns with the national vision of creating a ‘Digital Sri Lanka,’ making essential services more accessible and convenient for all citizens.
