Saldin new Chairman at Chemanex

P.R. Saldin has been appointed the Chairman of Chemanex Plc.

He replaces Harsha Amarasekera who resigned with effect from 9 April after serving in the position since April 2015.

Saldin was previously the Non-Executive Non-Independent Director of Chemanex from February 2017. He was first appointed to the Board of Directors of Chemanex Plc in 1999 and served as a Non-Executive Director till 2005.

Chemanex placed on record its appreciation for the valuable contribution Amarasekera made to the company. He remains as Chairman of CIC Holdings Plc, the parent of Chemanex. 

Saldin currently is employed as Director of Paints and General Industries Ltd, the holding Company of CIC Holdings Plc and Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polypak Secco Ltd. 

Previously he functioned as Country Controller and Group Finance Director for Shell Sri Lanka and subsequently as Group Chief Operating Officer of the Browns Group of Companies and Managing Director of Brown Investment Plc.Saldin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the United Kingdom and a Certified Management Accountant, Australia. He is an alumni of the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, with over 20 years of top management level experience. He has a career spanning the areas of Finance, Human Resource Development, General Management and Operations.

Following the changes, the Board of Chemanex Plc comprises P.R. Saldin (Chairman), S.P.S. Ranatunga and S.A.B. Ekanayake.
