Seminar today on digital signatures for paperless process at Customs

  • Digital signatures made mandatory from 1 August

Sri Lanka Customs will not entertain clearance documents with ink (wet) signatures for processing Customs documents with effect from Sunday, 1 August, according to a notification issued via a notice to all stakeholders. 

A seminar/webinar in this regard on ‘Digital Signatures for a Paperless Process at the Customs’ will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 29 July with the Customs DG making the keynote address.

The Sri Lanka Customs in a bid to improve efficiency for its users launched the digital signature facility for paperless processing. The move was part of a stepped-up automation transformation at Sri Lanka Customs and improving ease of use, reducing cost and time for the private sector. The seminar/webinar will be organised by ACFA for the benefit of approximately 3,500 of its members and to educate the relevant authorities and the public of this new initiative. 

The speakers of this seminar/webinar will be the following personnel: Rtd. Major General Vijith Ravipriya (keynote speaker); LankaClear General Manager/CEO Channa De Silva (speaker), Sri Lanka Customs Deputy Director (Legal) Sudattha Silva (speaker), Sri Lanka Customs Deputy Director (ICT) Thilaka Pragnarathne (speaker), ACFA Sri Lanka President Uvaiz Samsudeen (Panel Chair) and Global Shippers Forum Chairman Sean van Dort.
