In line with the Government of Sri Lanka’s efforts to revolutionise agriculture, the Assistant High Commission of India (AHC), Kandy and the Consulate General of India (CGI), Jaffna, on behalf of the High Commission of India in Colombo, facilitated a live demonstration of advanced agricultural machinery from RoWeR, a brand owned by Mechcreatio Industrial Solutions Ltd., India.
The demonstrations were conducted at various locations in Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Badulla, in association with the Regional Economic Development Agency (REDA) – Central Province, Department of Agriculture, Lions Club, Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and other agencies.
Subsequently, the team visited Jaffna where, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural productivity, the CGI, Jaffna organised demonstrations at the fields of the Agriculture Faculty of the University of Jaffna, Kilinochchi and at the office of the Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture, Palaly Road, Jaffna. Officials from the CGI also witnessed the live demonstration.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 50 students and faculty members from various streams of agricultural studies at the university, alongside more than 200 farmers from the Central, Uva, and Northern Provinces, Agriculture Field Officers, and resource personnel from the Department of Agriculture. Attendees gained valuable hands-on experience with RoWeR’s innovative seeders and other cutting-edge agricultural machines, designed to enhance productivity and efficiency in farming practices. These initiatives reiterate India’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in Sri Lanka with an aim to improve the knowledge and skills of local farmers and agricultural professionals.
