Siyambalapitiya calls on IRD to implement system to identify tax evaders

The Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya directs the Inland Revenue Department Commissioner General to take immediate action to identify people tax evaders engaged in certain professions.

“There is a strong focus on boosting the State income. The Inland Revenue Department should focus on the identification of tax evaders and bring them into the tax net,” he said at a meeting held with the officials of the Inland Revenue Department at the Finance Ministry premises yesterday.

Issues related to the collection of tax revenue, the RAMIS system and filling vacancies were discussed at length during the meeting.

State Minister Siyambalapitiya called on the officials to iron out the issues in tax administration and collections to boost Government revenue.
