Sri Lanka-Benelux Business Council holds 27th Annual General Meeting

The 27th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka-Benelux Business Council (SLBBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was held was held on 23 June via MS Teams. 

SLBBC was inaugurated in April 1992 on the initiative of the former Director General of the Board of Investment, Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala and the former Ambassador for the Netherlands in Sri Lanka, H.R.R.C. Froger and formed under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Mahen Kariyawasam, Chairman/Managing Director of Andrew the Travel Company Ltd. was elected as the President of the Council for the year 2021/2022. Sajith Wijenayake from Aitken Spence Travels Ltd. was elected as the Vice President of the Council.

The President of SLBBC remarked on the recently concluded webinar on Luxemburg together with The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Export Development Board.  He further stated that the council was planning on a session with the Dutch Ambassador, Luxemburg Consulate and also a discussion with the members to identify challenges and issues in trading with the Benelux counties.  

Ceylon Jewellery Manufacturers, Nisol Diamonds Ltd., Spillburg Holdings, Vinu International Ltd. and Walkers Tours Ltd. were elected from the membership to serve on the Executive Committee of the Council.
