Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne called on Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand Prof. Dr. Anek Laothamatas earlier this week at the Ministry.
While recalling longstanding excellent relations with Sri Lanka, Minister Prof. Dr. Laothamatas warmly welcomed Ambassador Colonne and assured to accelerate bilateral cooperation through speedy implementation of signed bilateral Memoranda of Understanding under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand.
Both further discussed the avenues of future cooperation mainly in the fields of medicine, engineering, vocational training and language training.
Prof. Dr. Anek Laothamatas warmly accepted the invitation extended by Ambassador Chaminda Colonne to visit Sri Lanka at a mutually convenient time.
Permanent Secretary Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Deputy Permanent Secretary Assoc. Prof. Pasit Lorterapong of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Dean of the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, Rangsit University, Prof. Sompong Sanguanbun, and First Secretary Saritha Ranatunga from the Sri Lanka Mission in Bangkok joined the discussion.
