Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana launches for the 3rd consecutive year

Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana – an awards program to empower the women of Sri Lanka was launched for the third consecutive year by NDB Bank and News 1st.

Similar to the very successful programs held in 2020 and 2021 that concluded with the finale at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in March 2021 and at the BMICH in March, Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana 2022 too will be conducted over six months across the country, culminating in the grand award ceremony on International Women’s Day 8 March 2023.

This year’s programme will be held in four phases, starting with the official launch press conference and application collection. The second phase will consist of the Provincial Level competitions where five finalists will be shortlisted from each category resulting in 40 participants per province in total. The categories are Sports, Entrepreneur (Micro Scale), Entrepreneur (Small Scale), Entrepreneur (Up Coming), Voluntary Services, Art, Education services and Young Leader.

Phase three will commence with the corporate sector competitions which are held for professionals in the corporate sector. Accordingly, 20 participants will be selected from each category and 10 finalists per category will ascend for the final awards ceremony.

 The 10 winners from each category will be selected by a special judge panel of proficient in each respective field. 

These categories are Human Resources, Finance Management, Marketing and Advertising , Legal, State and Government Sector,  Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Hospitality Industry, Art, Sports and Entrepreneurship.

Thousands of applications were received for the Vanithabhimana program over the last two years with over 172 provincial awards, 10 honorary awards, 10 corporate awards, two most popular awards and eight popular nominee awards being presented over course of the two seasons.
