State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said Sri Lanka is ready to be included in the 2026 International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) program.
He made these remarks in a discussion held with IFAD Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Reehana Raza and IFAD Country Director Tabassum Sherina on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Raza informed that allocations for climate financing could be merged with standard financing. With a focus on climate financing combined with standard financing, the progress of the existing projects has been examined along with the requirement of more similar projects to Sri Lanka.
Expressing the willingness to be included in the 2026 program State Minister Semasinghe informed that Sri Lanka looks forward to cooperating and working closely with IFAD.
