Six exhibitors from Sri Lanka participated in the five-day Texworld/Apparel Sourcing Paris 2021 via virtual platform. The Lankan companies were JIA Moda, Kolonna Manufacturing, EL Holdings, Rakshaa Ltd., Sarasavi Exporters and Selta Ltd.
The fair which concluded on 5 February showed new innovative ideas to the world. Texworld Paris normally brings together, twice a year in Paris, around 1,500 exhibitors from the fashion industry; however, with COVID-19 and travel restrictions Messe Frankfurt France came up with innovative alternative solutions for the fashion industry. A way for buyers to physically feel the samples while then interacting over video with the manufacturers.
The event was designed by Messe Frankfurt’s team to maintain a flow of business between the global sourcing players for fashion brands, from ready-to-wear to luxury goods, weavers and international manufacturers, for which it brings together a fine selection of various products and materials.
Sarasavi Exporters Head of Marketing/Merchandising and Operations Nalin Thabeeth said: “It was our first participation in any virtual exhibition. We got some leads from USA and Europe and now working on them so yeah overall good experience.”
This unique event was accessible by invitation and upon reservation to allow a visit within the best (sanitary) conditions. Other countries that participated in Le Showroom include Bangladesh, India, Korea, Turkey, China and Italy.
This one-of-a-kind innovative event took place in the first week of February, from 1 to 5 February, in the heart of Paris, at an exclusive venue: the Atelier Richelieu.
