SriLankan clarifies on high repatriation cost

National carrier SriLankan Airlines yesterday issued the following clarification regarding the article titled “Exorbitant price of COVID-19 repatriation charter flights under fire” that was published in the Daily FT on 26 August.

SriLankan Airlines wishes to make a clarification on a news story published in Daily FT titled “Re- Exorbitant price of COVID-19 repatriation charter flights under fire,” as it is misleading.

The airline had charged only Rs. 97,000 per passenger, including taxes. The rest of the fee revolves around the expenditure incurred for a 14 days quarantine in a star class hotel, on full board twin-sharing basis, cost for 2 mandatory PCR tests, and transportation from airport to hotel on shared basis.
