American computer-animated adventure film “Super Mario Bros” is enthralling Sri Lankan movie goers in 20 cinemas countrywide. They are Vista Lite - Ja-Ela, Maxx Lite - Moratuwa, Voxx Lite - Avissawella, CK Lite - Kiridiwella, Milano Diamond - Kegalle, NIT – Kurunegala, NIT – Ratnapura, Majestic Superior - Colombo, Regal Cinema - Dematagoda, Regal Cinema - Nuwaraeliya, Regal Cinema - Gampaha, Regal Bronze - Jaffna, Savoy Metro - Gampaha, Savoy 3D - Colombo, Savoy Metro - Rajagiriya, PVR Cinemas, Colombo City Centre, Liberty by Scope, Liberty by Scope - Kiribathgoda and Kandy City Centre.
Globally the film took in over $ 378 million with $ 173 million internationally and $ 205 million domestically, becoming the biggest animated opening of all-time.

The Super Mario Bros computer-animated adventure film based on Nintendo’s Mario video game franchise. Produced by Illumination, Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and distributed by Universal, it was directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel.
The ensemble voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen and Fred Armisen.
The film features an origin story for the brothers Mario and Luigi, Italian-American plumbers who are transported to an alternate world and become entangled in a battle between the Mushroom Kingdom, led by Princess Peach, and the Koopas, led by Bowser.
Internationally, The Super Mario Bros. Movie broke the following records: The biggest International opening weekend of 2023; The second-biggest animated opening weekend of all-time, behind only Frozen 2; The biggest Illumination opening of all-time; The biggest video game adaptation opening of all-time; The biggest Japanese IP opening of all-time; and The No. 4 Universal opening of all-time.
