The Exterminators, Sri Lanka’s 1st ISO 45001:2018 certified pest control company

The Exterminators Ltd. Has announced that the company is certified as Sri Lanka’s first ISO 45001:2018 certified pest control company. 

The company has been assessed, approved and certified by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI) for occupational health and safety management system for the provision of pest control and termite control services.

The Exterminators was certified under the previous occupational health and safety standard in 2010 and the first pest control company and the first SME company to be OHSAS 18001 certified in Sri Lanka. The company is also Sri Lanka’s first ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and the second pest control company to be certified ISO 22000 food and safety management system.

ISO 45001 is the world’s international standard for occupational health and safety, issued to protect employees and visitors from work-related accidents and diseases. ISO 45001 certification was developed to mitigate any factors that can cause employees and businesses irreparable harm. 

In addition, it bases its focus on prevention management as well as on the co-participation of workers and managers in guaranteeing safer and healthier working environments. This new norm goes beyond health and safety traditional topics while also making reference to broader issues, such as labour welfare.

Achieving this certification status is an important milestone for our company in the new decade, stated Exterminators Founder/Managing Director Marlon Ferreira. He further stated that the company is looking forward to take on the pest battle in 2020 and the decade ahead by providing game changing pest management solutions in Sri Lanka and the region by designing, developing, articulating environmentally sustainable and health, safety conscious codes and practices.
