The High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives is pleased to announce this year’s Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) partners.

Congratulations to the following recipients:

  • Equité, Sri Lanka
  • Federation of Environmental Organisations (FEO), Sri Lanka
  • Fuvahmulah City Council, Maldives
  • Fem Health, Maldives
  • Maldives Resilient Reefs, Maldives
  • Maldives Wetlands Foundation, Maldives
  • National Ethnic Unity Foundation (NEUF), Sri Lanka
  • Nuffield School for the Deaf and Blind, Sri Lanka

The CFLI supports and empowers organisations addressing local issues while strengthening ties with civil society and local communities. This year, the CFLI will contribute to promoting and advancing inclusive governance, women’s empowerment, environment and climate action and growth that works for everyone in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

By helping local organisations address issues that matter to them – including preserving natural resources and supporting local entrepreneurs who rely on them, promoting LGBTQIA+ rights and preventing gender-based violence– Canada is honoured to contribute to more inclusion and prosperity in Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The CFLI is a highly competitive program that supports small-scale, high-impact projects designed and implemented mainly by local partners. We take this occasion to acknowledge all of the excellent proposals we received and were unable to fund this year.
