Treasury Secretary congratulates Nigel Clarke on proposed IMF role

Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana yesterday extended his best wishes to Jamaica’s Finance and Public Service Minister Nigel Clarke, following his proposed appointment as Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 

The proposal for Clarke’s appointment was made by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and is set to take effect on 31 October 2024. (https://www.imf.org/en/News/Articles/2024/08/25/kristalina-georgieva-proposes-appointment-of-mr-nigel-clarke-as-deputy-managing-director)

Clarke is expected to succeed Antoinette Sayeh, who will be stepping down from her role on 12 September, as previously announced by the IMF. 

Taking to ‘X’ Siriwardana said, “Congratulations Nigel.”

Treasury Secretary noted that he met Clarke earlier this month and both shared their experiences on macroeconomic reforms.
