Villvay hosts its first ever Coding Week from 13th to 20th September

Serial American entrepreneur and Twitter/Foursquare investor Jeff Pulver to take the stage

Villvay, the software engineering company helping businesses in the US, Europe, and Australia solve problems through tech-driven value creation, will be hosting its first ever “Coding Week 2022” from 13th to 20th September 2022.

The event will be a week of engagement, knowledge-sharing, and entertainment designed to ignite an interest in tech, from product development to Web3 including blockchain, and everything in between.

 

 

The Digital Skills Challenge for undergraduates

Coding Week 2022 will kick off with a Digital Skills Challenge that will commence on 13th September. The event will be exclusively open to university students who will have to design and develop a front-end for an online art marketplace in just five days. Students will be expected to make the most out of the wireframes and style guide Villvay provides and put their digital skills to the test in the process, including their web design skills and creativity, CSS skills and best practices, responsive design skills, front-end development with JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, etc.), website optimisation skills, and level of attention to detail. Registrations for the Challenge will close on 12th September at 4 p.m. and late registrations will close on the 14th September at midnight. Three winners will be chosen and entitled to win amazing prizes worth Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, and Rs. 20,000, respectively.

 

The Coding Challenge

A Coding Challenge will commence on 16th September and will be open to all software developers/engineers who will have to solve an algorithmic problem using known algorithms and data structures in just two days. They will also have to assess how their algorithm will perform and explain some edge cases. A prize worth Rs. 200,000 awaits the winner of the Coding Challenge.

 

Tech Talks

Moreover, a series of tech talks awaits participants from longstanding Villvay software engineers Frank Alwis and Devaka Dias, taking the crowd through everything from product development to blockchain from 6 pm onwards on 17th September. The talks will be followed by a Coding Demonstration. On 18th September at 10 a.m., Villvay’s Chief Software Architect Mushtaq Jameel will share his insights, experience, and strategy pertaining to solving problems across the spectrum, in the complex tech landscape.

The highlight of the tech talks will be Jeff Pulver taking the stage to speak on what lies beyond Web 2 and 3, scheduled to take place on 17th September at 4.30 pm. An American serial Internet entrepreneur and futurist known for his work as an innovator in the field of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Jeff also happens to be an investor in over 400 start-ups, including Twitter and Foursquare, and the development of Web3 applications, including the issuances of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and various cryptocurrencies.

Villvay's Coding Week 2022 will conclude with an Open Mic Night on 20th September from 5 pm onwards, where Villvay team members can take the stage to perform and share their talents, whether they be singing, acting, reading, spoken word poetry, or playing instruments.
