The Sri Lanka-China Business Cooperation Council (SLCBCC), established in 1994 to promote, encourage, develop, and strengthen trade and commerce between Sri Lanka and the People’s Republic of China, proudly announces its newly elected leadership team for the year 2024/2025.
At the 25th Annual General Meeting held on 10 December, at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo, Indika Salgado was elected as the President of the Council. With a steadfast vision for strengthening the bilateral partnership between the two nations, Salgado is set to lead the SLCBCC towards greater achievements in fostering economic growth and cooperation. The newly elected leadership team includes: Vice Presidents Ranjith Laksiri and Renuka Jayamanne; Secretary General Arjuna Yatawara and Honorary Treasurer Tissa Ruberu.
In addition to the executive committee, a dedicated team of esteemed members has been appointed to serve on the Executive Committee for 2024/2025.
In his inaugural address, Salgado highlighted the Council’s critical role in facilitating bilateral trade, enhancing investment opportunities, and building strong networks between businesses in Sri Lanka and China. “Our commitment remains unwavering in creating a dynamic platform for collaboration, driving innovation, and fostering mutual economic prosperity,” he stated.
Since its incorporation under the Companies Act in 1994 and its association with the National Chamber of Commerce in 1995, the SLCBCC has been at the forefront of promoting bilateral business partnerships. Under its new leadership, the Council aims to amplify efforts in fostering trade ties and unlocking new avenues of cooperation in industries ranging from technology and tourism to agriculture and infrastructure.
The SLCBCC extends its gratitude to its members for their continued support and invites stakeholders from both nations to actively participate in upcoming initiatives aimed at deepening Sri Lanka-China business relations.
