The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in association with National Enterprise Development Authority concluded the ‘Entrepreneur Awards 2020 Western Province’ successfully at the BMICH on 10 March, two days after International Women’s Day.
Ministry of Industries Secretary Anusha Pelpita was the Chief Guest and NEDA Chairman/DG Anushka Gunasinghe was the Guest of Honour.
There were around 26 awards, including sector wise and category wise awards, special awards and overall award together with 16 merit awards.
Among award recipients the number of women entrepreneurs has been strikingly significant and women participation and trust placed on NEDA and NCCSL is noteworthy to mention.
In addition to the Award for Best Entrepreneur Providing Most Number of Jobs for Females, awarded to Orel IT Ltd., the following women entrepreneurs were successful in winning awards.
Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries Sector
- Micro Category – Merit award: K.K.A. Madhuwanthi, Proprietor of U Best Products
- Medium Category – Merit award: G.L. Imesha Madhushani, Partner of Heavens Vege Foods Lanka
- Large Category – Winner: Yamuna Perera, CEO of Impex Corporation Ltd.
Industry/Manufacturing Sector
- Micro Category – Winner: Nimesha Nilanthi Nugera, Proprietor of A-Ruu Creative Creations
- Micro Category – Merit awards: A. Gayani Nilmini De Alwis, Proprietor of Nimreka Batik and Nadeera Nilmini Silva, Partner of S & N Products
- Small Category – Winner: S.A. Priyanthi Kumari, Directress of Akalanka Product International Ltd.
- Small Category – Merit award: Inoka Thushari Liyanarachchi, Managing Directress of D & D Creations Ltd.
- Medium Category – Winner, ‘Best Entrepreneur – Recovered from COVID-related Business Issues’ Award and Overall Winner, 2nd Runner Up (Bronze award): Ruvini Irosha Wickramarachchi, Managing Directress of Wickramarachchi Brothers
- Medium Category – Merit award: Jenika Senani Warusavithana, Chairperson of Senani Food Products Ltd.
