Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir Mohomed, the man who turned Malaysia into a successful land in Asia, was available to recognise the selected award winners who assemble into Dewen Tun Hussein Onn, Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from several countries on 9 October.

On behalf of Prime Group of Companies, its Chairman, B. Premalal received the most prestigious UDC Business Awards ‘Masterclass Best Entrepreneur of the year 2011’ from Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohomed.

The untiring efforts and penetrating vision of Premalal, assisted by the CEO Sandamini Perera during the last 15 years, were the qualification necessary for this exemplary recognition. With humble beginnings, Prime Lands (Pvt.) Ltd was backed by a team of high spirited, committed and loyal staff and has not left any stone unturned on the path to improving its prowess and increasing the impact on its clientele with satisfaction. Today, they are reasonably proud to say that they occupy the number one slot in the entire real estate domain.

With their successful achievement in this sphere, they are able to reach another area to provide services in great demand for the rural folk in this country and have extended the unique vision of Nobel Prize winner from Bangladesh Prof. Yusuf Mohomad to empower rural women to find self-employment.

They have been able to revive the incapacitated Ceylinco Grameen with an injection of Rs. 1 billion to continue its vigorous aim of empowering rural mothers and sisters of this country.

Within a period of three and half months they are happy to state that having absorbed over 850 employees of all grades in 48 branches, they have been able to disburse Rs. 1 billion in small loans to mothers and sisters of Sri Lanka by 14 October. Thereby they continue to enjoy the satisfaction of their clients from the lowest strata of society, making them capable of contributing to the eradication of poverty while providing them services of the first ever financial institute to continue granting small loans to self employed poor rural families, with the fervent hope of achieving a poverty-free Sri Lanka.

At present, about 45,000 rural families are recipients of these loans and have gradually become contributing depositors in the savings scheme introduced by the Prime Grameen.

Prime Lands Group is also having another arm of service which has introduced cement based roofing tiles through their latest company Prime Designer Roofs (Pvt.) Ltd. The company is also thankful to Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal, Deputy Governor, Priyantha Fernando, Additional Director H.M. Ekanayake and all other members of their team who have helped and guided the Prime Grameen Micro Finance Ltd.
