Asia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio Network, Sri Lanka’s largest radio network, has provided yet another enriching and historic experience to Sri Lankans living around the globe with the introduction of international SMS News Alerts.

This international News Alert Service, which was introduced as a concept by the Chairman of Asia Broadcasting Corporation Rayynor Silva, is without  doubt a significant milestone in the Sri Lankan media industry.

ABC Radio Network was the first media network in history to introduce SMS News Alerts in all three languages on to mobile phone networks in Sri Lanka and is regarded as the most reliable news alert service with the highest number of subscribers.

Launched in July 1998, Asia Broadcasting revolutionised the media industry setting up Sri Lanka’s first ever private Tamil channel – Sooriyan FM – along with Sri Lanka’s first ever English oldies channel – Gold FM – and Sri Lanka’s first youth channel – ‘Shaa FM’ – along with Sri Lanka’s number one Sinhala channel – Hiru FM – and Sri Lanka’s youth English trend setter – Sun FM.

Today, each channel has secured the number one slot in its targeted segment as the preferred channel and has accumulated a massive and loyal listener base, due to the untiring efforts of a young and dynamic team driven to achieve only the best.
