Taking into account the importance and benefit that organisations will derive by having an in depth knowledge and understanding of the requirements and essential facts of taxation rules and regulations, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has organised a seminar that aims to share some insights into basic direct and indirect computation and compliance requirements of a company. The seminar is scheduled to take place on 5 December from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Cedar Room, Cinnamon Grand. It brings together prominent tax experts who will be the key note speakers at the event. This will comprise of Deepani Herath, Senior Commissioner Department of Inland Revenue, who will be presenting on the basic Income Tax laws affecting corporates. Suresh Perera, Principal, Tax & Regulatory of KPMG Sri Lanka, will speak on the basics of Value Added Tax and Nation Building Tax. The main sponsor for this event will be Mercury Institute of Management, the only platinum status tuition provider for ACCA in Sri Lanka. Whether you form a sole proprietorship, a partnership, a limited liability company, or a corporation, there are significant income tax consequences that flow from each. Therefore understanding the rules of the game is a key factor for the decision makers of any organisation.  This seminar will provide answers and give an understanding of the current tax and regulatory issues and challenges faced by organisations today. Participants can get useful insights and guidelines on handling and managing these situations from industry experts and also understand best practices to adopt. ACCA is acknowledged as an organisation that has contributed and added much value through the many workshops held by them to discuss relevant topics of importance in the field of finance. This seminar is yet again another initiative by ACCA, to engage and educate the industry on current financial trends and challenges that are faced by businesses today.
