ACL Cables, the market leader in cables with over 70% market share as a Group and the pioneer of Sri Lanka’s cable industry since 1962, has introduced two state-of-the-art Fire Rated Cables. These could be considered the safest as well as the most technologically advanced cable ranges in the local market. Unlike traditional PVC Cables, these Fire Rated Cables installed in a house, commercial building or a factory can eliminate a fire arising due to an accidental electrical short circuit.
Normally most fires in buildings originate due to immense heat and flames of fire that occur due to accidental electrical short circuit. When a PVC cable is subject to such a short circuit, it catches fire and spreads it along the length of the cable setting ablaze the entire building, destroying life and property. ACL’s new range of Fire Rated cables namely ACL Fire Zero and ACL Fire Survivor especially addresses above mentioned shortcomings of PVC Cables.
ACL Fire Zero is a non-PVC, halogen free, highly fire retardant cable which ensures that an accidental electrical short circuit will not lead to a fire. If an electrical short circuit takes place in a building wired with ACL Fire Zero, the fire will extinguish itself immediately without spreading it along the cables.
Furthermore, even if a building wired with ACL Fire Zero cable is caught in a fire due to any reason other than a short circuit, those cables that are subject to the flames will not emit black smoke or acidic gasses which could blind or suffocate people trying to escape the fire.
In that respect ACL Fire Zero not only protects a building by preventing a fire but also helps people caught in a fire to escape. In most developed countries these types of fire rated cables have been made mandatory for buildings where a lot of people live or gather.
In addition to ACL Fire Zero, ACL has also introduced the ACL Fire Survivor Cable which is a Fire Resistant or Fire Survival Cable. These cables ensure continuous operation of critical electric circuits such as Fire Alarms, Fire Hydrant Systems, Water Sprinklers, Elevator Systems, Exhaust Fans, and Escape Lights during a fire raging up to 950 degrees Celsius, for a period of three hours. These cables are absolutely essential to help people trapped in a fire to escape and douse the fire. These cables too will not emit black smoke or acidic gases when caught in a fire.
ACL stands unique in the region as the only company with in-house laboratory facilities to comprehensively carry out all varieties of tests required for guaranteeing quality of Fire Retardant and Fire Survival cables made to meet relevant British and IEC standards required by the most demanding local and foreign buyers. ACL Cables is the pioneer in Sri Lanka’s cable market and continues to enjoy the position of market leader through continuous innovation. Furthermore, the company lays special emphasis on introducing products and technology that ensure utmost public safety.
