Companies today provide their services online to this fast-paced world that prefers online purchasing rather than actual shopping for many reasons, including convenience and less time consumed in terms of travelling, parking, etc.

Catering to this need, the world’s largest manufacturer of paints and coatings, the global Fortune 500 company, AkzoNobel Paints, who are also the makers of Dulux paints, launched their shopping site www.duluxshop.lk in Sri Lanka to help consumers buy paint with just one click.

By launching this shopping site, AkzoNobel Paints Lanka also became the first paint company in Sri Lanka to launch an e-commerce platform to sell paints. Marking this occasion, TBWA\TAL Managing Director Renuka Marshall and Vanguard Management Services CEO Lakshman Bandaranayke launched a set of helium balloons that contained a number of Dulux vouchers.

Further speaking on this need to launch an e-commerce platform at the launch held at the Colombo Rowing Club last week, Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka Category Manager Rajith Perera stated that consumer habits are changing day-by-day and online shopping has become many consumers’ preferred choice.

The new shopping website gives the consumer detailed information on colours, colour trends, inspirational ideas, help tips and even information on the ‘Colour of the Year for 2013’ which is said to be indigo. This website is also quite user-friendly, and it enables the consumer to buy paint easily and can be purchased anytime and anywhere in Sri Lanka.

To buy paint from the Dulux shop, consumers can browse through the colours Dulux offers, drag and drop the colours they want to purchase onto the palette and finally buy the colours with their card. This service is provided for all customers in Sri Lanka with free delivery. However, products purchased in the western province are delivered within 24 hours, elsewhere in Sri Lanka, delivery can take place within 48 hours.

The Dulux shopping website offers a range of decorative paints for interior, exterior and metal and wood finishes. Perera stated that 80% of the products are available at the shopping site.

Earlier in 2011, in the wake of launching an e-commerce platform, AkzoNobel launched the Dulux website (www.dulux.lk) and their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/dulux.lk) in order to help consumers check out the range of colours they have on offer.
