Alumex Honoured at National Business Excellence Awards 2015

Alumex, a leading Sri Lankan manufacturer in aluminum profiles clinched several awards at the National Business Excellence Awards 2015 (NBEA), organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. Alumex claimed the overall Bronze Award while emerging as the winner in the categories Large Category of Business, Manufacturing and Engineering Sector as well as the runner up in the Excellence in Business and Financial Results category. At the NBEA 2014, the Company won two awards namely, the first runner up position in the Manufacturing and Engineering category and the second runner up position in the Large Category of Business. 

Commenting on the achievement, Managing Director of Alumex PLC, Rohan Peris said, “We are honoured to have been presented with these prestigious awards. This valuable recognition is an indication of our business excellence and our business integrity.” 

National Business Excellence Awards is renowned for its stringent evaluation process and the caliber of the judging panels. Each year, the judges evaluate applications on the basis of an          8 point criterion and in a three-stage process – Desk Review, Interviews and Judges’ Final Review. The criterion covers Business & Financial Performance, Global Reach, Knowledge Integration, Technological Investment, Capacity Building, Performance Management, and Corporate Governance & Corporate Social Responsibility. The eight perspectives of each applicant is measured on the basis of a set ‘Excellence Model’ created to measure all aspects of business approach and dealings. The NBEA Excellence Model evaluates Excellence in Leadership, Excellence in Corporate Governance, Excellence in Capacity Building, Excellence in Performance Management, Excellence in Local and Gobal Market Reach, Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability and Excellence in Business and Financial Results. The Panel of Judges make their final selection of the awardees after a careful review of all preliminary evaluation reports and the interviews.

The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) with a view of recognizing the business enterprises, which have demonstrated excellence in business while contributing to the economic progress of the country. Having commenced in 2004 as NBEA 2004 the National Business Excellence Awards have recognised the top class business which excelled in their performance every year.
