Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka AGM and Fellowship on 17 December

The second Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka will be held on Saturday 17 December at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Lotus Ball Room, Fort commencing at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Fellowship Dinner of the past Unileverites and their spouses from 7:30 p.m. onwards.

The Association is celebrating its second anniversary and was formed at an inaugural meeting held on 29 October 2014 at the Auditorium of the Organization for Professional Associations, Colombo 7. The Association has a membership of over 900 residing at home and abroad.

The third edition of the Membership Directory was published in 2015 and all editions were sponsored by Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. They were distributed to the members present at the AGM/Fellowship held in 2015 and subsequently posted to overseas and local members.  

The objective of the Association is to promote fellowship amongst the members and to carry out other social service projects deemed fit by the Committee. Membership of the Association is open free of charge to former Management and Staff categories of Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd., which comprise Lever Brothers (Ceylon) Ltd., Brooke Bond, Lipton and Cey-Tea. 

The Association is a unique community and it is indeed a great tribute to Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. that past employees had seen it fit to form such an Association and has kept it active. Alumni Association of Unilever Sri Lanka Facebook was initiated by two former colleagues domiciled in UK, namely, Hemantha Edirisooriya and Lakshitha Karunaratna, who administer the page. The local administrators are Nihal Weerawardena and Asoka Weerasekera.

The Office Bearers who were elected at the AGM held in December 2015 will function for two consecutive years. The office bearers are as follows: President Priyantha Kolonnage, Immediate Past President Kamal Jaimon, Vice President Asanga Karunaratna, Secretary Asita Abayasekera, Treasurer Asoka Weerasekera 

Committee Members: J. C Ekanayaka, Sunil Meewewa, Edgar Tavarayan, C Thurairajah, Ira Waniganayaka, Dayani Weerasinghe, Jayanthi Wijesinghe.

Member Auditor: S. Devendra FCA, FCMA.

The Organising Committee has drawn up an exciting program and each participant will be receiving a gift pack with the compliments of Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd. and there will be many more surprises. All members are requested to obtain their tickets well in advance as a quick sale out is expected.
