Ambassadors of Russia and US to Sri Lanka meet Foreign Minister Karunanayake

01Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alexander A. Karchava and US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Atul Keshap met Minister of Foreign Affairs Ravi Karunanayake this afternoon at his ministry.

Ambassador Karchava said that the friendly ties between Russia and Sri Lanka had been strengthened. The ambassador also said that Russia continues to assist Sri Lanka with its future development activities. In response, Karunanayake said that Sri Lanka always treated Russia as a friend and its continuous support was appreciated.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador Atul Keshap said that the US was always committed to help uplift the lives of the people of Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Keshap, who said that the levels of health, education and social development in Sri Lanka were at a higher position today than in the past, pointed out that he was pleased to witness such development in the country.

He also said that the US would extend further support to strengthen such development sectors in the future.

Responding to Ambassador Keshap, Minister Karunanayake said that the commitment made by the US to strengthen bilateral ties between it and Sri Lanka was of paramount importance.
