The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has called applications from private and public sector companies to apply for the Best Corporate Citizen (BCC) Award 2012. The annual event is organised to recognise best practices in corporate sustainability and to encourage corporates to be more responsible towards their stakeholders. The BCC Award assesses the performance of a corporate in terms of its interactions with its stakeholders; the environment, its employees, its customers and suppliers, the community the Government and its shareholders.
This year the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has decided to increase the number of awards to give greater recognition to companies adopting best practices.
The CCC also invites private sector entities that carried out Corporate Social Responsibility projects during the year 2011/2012 to apply for the Best CSR Projects Awards. Projects conducted under most areas are eligible to apply for this award. The main project categories are education and training, north/east reconciliation, infrastructure, environment and other.
Companies are invited to apply for the awards to gain recognition for their activities and demonstrate to the public that corporate sector is not only about making profit. Participation in the awards will also give organisations an opportunity to identify areas that need further improvement and address them in a systematic manner.

A seminar will be held on 26 July from 8a.m. to 12.30p.m. at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Auditorium to brief the applicants on the application procedure.
