Asian Paints has launched two new waterproofing products in Sri Lanka further strengthening the extensive product range it offers in the local market.

The new water and solvent based waterproofing sealers are designed to offer comprehensive protection to surfaces that are adversely affected through contact with water, the company said.

Effective as a primary waterproofing coating and suitable for use on cement and concrete surfaces, Asian Paints’ solvent-based sealer (AP Seal – SB) can be applied on damp surfaces and also offers protection from UV rays. Its water-based counterpart (AP Seal – WB), is suitable for use on cement surfaces and prevents exposure of wall cracks by forming a flexible, elastomeric film.

The new sealers are recommended for use on uncovered walls, the interior and exterior of bathrooms and for constructions in close proximity to the sea.  When applied, the two sealers form tough and strong films that do not peel off. They are easy to apply, and are capable of providing protection from water over a long period of time, Asian Paints Lanka said.

The new products carry the same lead-free, environment-friendly guarantee that applies to all Asian Paints products in Sri Lanka.

“The introduction of waterproofing sealer products is an extension of our commitment to provide a broad offering capable of fulfilling the diverse needs of our customers,” Joseph L. Pulikottil, Asian Paints’ Director/General Manager in Sri Lanka said. “We are confident that the convenient, environment-friendly and reliable solution offered by these products to erosion caused by water, will be extremely well received in the local market.”

The effectiveness of Asian Paints’ waterproofing sealers has been assessed locally at trials at a number of sites, he said.
