Asphalt manufacturing plants opened in Periyakula​m and Ambanpola

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa this week commissioned two asphalt manufacturing plants in Periyakulam and Ambanpola.

The plant at Peruiyakulam produces Asphalt in bulk as a supportive substance used in carpeting roads. The cost incurred for the project is Rs. 10.15 million. The plant is capable of mixing 50 tons of Asphalt per hour under the first phase. Minister of Child Development and Women’s Affairs Tissa Karaliyadda, Chief Minister of North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Minister of Agrarian Services and Wildlife S.M Chandrasena, Deputy Minister of irrigation and Water Management W.BEkanayake, Parliamentarian S.C Muthukumarana, Provincial Minister H.B Semasinghe also participated at this occasion.

The Ambanpola plant in Kurunegala is capable of mixing 80 tons of Asphalt per hour and the investment for the project was Rs. 7.7 million. Senior Minister S. B. Nawinna, Minister of Culture Affairs and the Arts T.B. Ekanayaka, Chief Minister of North Western Province Athula Wijesinghe and Government officials also Participated at this occasion.
