BOC sponsors rebuilding of Jaffna Railway Station
As an expression of its commitment to community development, the Bank of Ceylon extends its corporate Social Responsibility by sponsoring the reconstructing of the Jaffna railway station under ‘Uthuru Mithuru project’. In this regard Bank of Ceylon’s General Manager D.M. Gunasekera and Sri Lanka Railways General Manager B.A.P. Ariyaratne exchanged agreements of this historic project. Reopening of the Jaffna Railway station will pave way for a new economic and social awakening by helping to overcome the infrastructure and livelihood barriers to developing the socio-economic setting of the region.
As a result of this BOC’s Corporate Social Responsibility Project, the ‘Yal Devi’ train to Jaffna will soon be ready to recommence her traditional duty as the train that reconnects the North with the South after three decades of war.
