BASF Lanka appoints Panduka as new MD

Effective 28 August 2014, BASF has appointed Panduka Weerasingha as the Managing Director of BASF Lanka Ltd. He succeeds S. Ramnath. Weerasingha has also been appointed as a Director on the Board of BASF Lanka Ltd. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Los Angeles, California. He has more than 15 years of experience in leadership roles and has previously worked with companies such as Brown & Company PLC, Singer Sri Lanka, Nivasie Developers Ltd and Lanka Walltiles. Weerasingha’s alma mater is St. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia. BASF has had an association with Sri Lanka for almost 75 years. With 45 employees, and a state-of-the-art warehousing complex at Sapugaskande, BASF registered sales of approximately 20 million to customers in Sri Lanka in 2013. BASF in Sri Lanka also contributes to the local community with initiatives that support relief and rehabilitation efforts. BASF is the world’s leading chemical company: The Chemical Company. Its portfolio ranges from chemicals, plastics, performance products and crop protection products to oil and gas. BASF had sales of about €74 billion in 2013 and over 112,000 employees as of the end of the year.
