Senior officials of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus will pay an official visit to Sri Lanka in November, the Belarusian Parliament announced. The Belarusian Parliamentary delegation led by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko will visit Sri Lanka on 17-21 November. During its four-day visit, the delegation will focus on the trade and economic matters, the leader of the delegation Vladimir Andreichenko told BelTA, the national news agency of Belarus. “The MPs will discuss, first of all, trade and economic cooperation between our countries. The MPs help establish not only political, but also economic contacts,” Andreichenko noted. He added that the major purpose of the visit is to boost trade, and to explore the opportunities and means to set up Belarusian assembly factories in Sri Lanka. “Naturally, we will improve the legal framework and share best practices in the legislative field, because this is essential for deepening the cooperation,” Andreichenko said. The parties will also discuss mutual support on the international arena, in particular, within the framework of Parliamentary organisations. “The agenda is very broad. The ultimate goal is to boost bilateral trade and expand economic ties,” Andreichenko emphasised.
