Belgium’s Ravago Group enters Sri Lankan market

Ravago Group, a Belgium based multinational company specialising in compounding, recycling, distributing, reselling plastics, chemicals, natural and synthetic rubber, expanded its presence in Asia through the formation of a new business unit, Ravago Lanka Ltd.

Ravago Lanka is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka and offers plastic and elastomeric raw materials as well as some finished plastic sheets and films for the Sri Lankan market.

Ravago Lanka will offer a wide range of plastic raw materials such as PP, HDPE, LDPE, PVC, EPS, etc. for the injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding and extrusion industries. Besides the local market, Ravago Lanka aspires to cover the South Indian market, given its geographical proximity and the market opportunities in the emerging countries.

Ravago Group covers a most comprehensive portfolio of commodities and engineering thermoplastics, synthetic rubbers, colour master batches and additives, custom compounds and eco-friendly bioplastics. The reselling of commoditised plastics, such as polypropylene and polyethylene, goes hand in hand with the distribution of technical products, such a nylon and thermoplastic elastomers. The Ravago Group resells and distributes plastic and rubber polymers to over 28,000 manufacturers in 80 countries.

Chavinka Sumanatilleke, Managing Director of Ravago Lanka, who will be heading the new division, is enthusiastic about the global prospective Ravago Group brings to the Sri Lankan market and to the local customers.

Ravago will be one of the first global plastics and elastomeric raw material distributors with a local presence in Sri Lanka.
