Leading FMCG and food service company Shaw Wallace Ceylon Ltd. enjoyed a record number of visitors at its stall at the recently-concluded ‘Profoods/Propack’ exhibition held at the BMICH.

Exhibiting a wide range of food products from its large portfolio, the Shaw Wallace stall received several thousand visitors from all walks during the three-day exhibition.

The exhibition also showcased the newest additions to the Shaw Wallace’s product range, namely Captain Soya Meat, which is now available in the local market in 90g and 65g pack sizes and in a variety of popular flavours.

Shaw Wallace Ceylon Chief Operating Officer Shilanth Boteju said: “This is our fifth year at this exhibition and the response from both the industry and the public has been encouraging. We look forward to being part of this exhibition in future years.”

With over a century of experience in the field of marketing and distribution, Shaw Wallace Ceylon Ltd is in the process of transforming into a dynamic business entity since its takeover by agri business and food specialist Renuka Holdings PLC.

Its sister company Richlife Dairies Ltd. manufactures a range of dairy-based products such as liquid milk in tetra, flavoured milk, yoghurts, curd, etc. The company also manufactures the ‘Cheers’ juice range under the Richlife brand.

Shaw Wallace Ceylon currently enjoys significant market share through local brands such as the flagship Captain Canned Jack Mackerel, Plaza Mackerel, Sun Gold Instant Drink Mixes, Rainer’s Colouring and Essences and Renuka Coconut Products, which are available island wide in groceries and modern trade outlets.

Managing Director Shamindra Rajiyah said: “Research conducted island wide has revealed that the Captain brand name has a very high recall rate and is instantly recognised owing to the quality and standards this brand has set for generations. Hence it was a strategic decision on our part to extend a range of products under the Captain Brand. The launch of Captain Soya is the very first extension we are undertaking and we look forward to adding new and innovative products for Sri Lankans to enjoy.”

With a turnover of over Rs. 5 billion, 1,240 employees and operating in 23 locations in the country, Renuka Holdings PLC is responsible for the strategic direction of the group. Where appropriate it has entered into strategic alliances and made far sighted acquisitions that will add value to its long-term interests.

As an organisation focused on results, the emphasis has been towards the creation of long-term shareholder value in all its businesses, while being a socially responsible corporate citizen.
