A business delegation from Poland headed by Leszek Lazarczyk, the Vice President of the PolskaIzba Gospodarcze (Polish Chamber of Commerce) and Chairman/CEO of the Linter Group, whose visit to Sri Lanka was organised and facilitated by D.S. de Silva, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Sri Lanka to Poland, was hosted by the BOI. The Linter Group is a founder member of the Polish Chamber of Commerce with offices in five countries.
The delegation’s visit to the island was to evaluate the potential for investment in Sri Lanka in key areas where Polish enterprises have comparative advantages, notably in power generation and pharmaceuticals manufacture. The delegation also expressed interest in alternative medicine, spas and related products, including Ayurveda based products and services.
At the meeting, Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman/Director General of the BOI and other senior officials of the board briefed the Polish delegation on the attractive incentives Sri Lanka offers to investors and of the country’s favourable business environment. Representing the BOI were Dilip S. Samarasinghe, Director (Media and Publicity), Nilupul de Silva, Director (Promotion), W.U.K.M.A. Wijayakulathilaka, Director (Investment), and L.A.K.P.W. Wijeweera, Senior Deputy Director (Utilities).
