BOI participates at ‘Ceatec Japan 2014’ exhibition held in Tokyo

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka participated at the Ceatec Japan 2014 exhibition which was held in Tokyo, Japan from 7 to 11 October 2014. Ceatec Japan is a comprehensive exhibition of cutting-edge IT and electronics that provides information to a wide range of users including people in business, both inside Japan and internationally, by presenting the world’s cutting-edge technologies, products and services, all under one roof. The exhibition was well attended by Japanese entrepreneurs, university graduates and researchers as it is a well-known world class IT and electronics industry exhibition. Ceatec Japan 2014 was sponsored by three leading organisations CIAJ Communications and Information Network Association of Japan, JEITA Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association and CSAJ Computer Software Association of Japan. This is one of the main exhibitions held in Japan. The major objective of Ceatec Japan is to highlight the cutting-edge achievements in IT and electronic technologies and presenting the products and services aimed at the lifestyle, industries and societies of tomorrow. A total number of 547 companies and organisations opened 1,612 booths, including 150 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions around the world. The exhibitions drew 150,912 registered visitors during the five days it was opened. BOI booth The BOI used the opportunity to promote Sri Lanka among Japanese entrepreneurs. The BOI manned a booth at the exhibition which included Japanese language flyers specially designed for the electronics and IT sector. A number of enquiries from enterprises have been received at the meeting and are currently being followed-up. BOI was provided with a time slot to make a Power Point Presentation at the investment forum at the JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) pavilion of the main exhibition venue on 9 October. A total number of 30-40 Japanese entrepreneurs attended this forum. A special meeting was arranged with the members of JEITA. A total number of 14 high profile members participated at the meeting. The meeting was started with the BOI Japanese video and followed by the PPT and followed by an interactive session. Board Member Sanjeewa Wickramanayake initiated the BOI participation at the exhibition. Jagath De Silva, Senior Deputy Director (Media and Publicity) and Nishantha Dissanayaka, Deputy Director (Investment) participated at the Ceatec Japan 2014 exhibition.
