Ramasamy recently called over at the Institute on a visit to Sri Lanka and was welcomed by Vice President of CA Sri Lanka Lasantha Wickremasinghe and Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka Aruna Alwis, who also presented him with a memento.
Prior to migrating, Ramasamy was also the Managing Director at British Ceylon Corporation.
Sharing his thoughts on the progression of the accountancy profession in Sri Lanka, Ramasamy said that the accounting profession has seen some very good progress over the years. He also acknowledge that his Chartered Accounting qualification gave him the necessary leverage to carry out his official responsibilities including carrying out investigations while he was serving in various capacities in South East Asia.
“Chartered accountancy has definitely helped me right throughout my career. Because I was an accountant I was able to carry out investigations successfully into numerous malpractices in various organisations I was assigned to. So accountancy has helped me a great deal in my career,” he said.
