Candappa leaves Gestetner

J.M.G. Candappa, who was the Executive Director/CEO at Gestetner of Ceylon Plc, has resigned from the company with effect from 31 January 2013. He has also resigned as the Alternate Director for Board Director Sayed Jemaldeen Muhammed Anzsar The resignation comes hot on the heels of Gestetner appointing former JKH Group’s Chandima Perera as Managing Director with effect from 1 January 2013. Candappa was appointed Executive Director/CEO in December 2009. Candappa started his career at Browns & Company Ltd. as a Trainee Executive in 1980. He subsequently held the posts of Divisional Manager and Director Marketing and was then promoted as Managing Director in 2001. He was also appointed to the Boards of Associated Battery Manufacturers Co Ltd., Standard Finance Ltd., Browns – Dimo Industrial Products Ltd., and Walker & Greig Ltd. He also served on the Board of the Subsidiaries of the Browns Group of Companies. On leaving Browns Candappa worked as a Consultant to Hitachi Power Tools Ltd., Japan. Candappa was also a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Business Management. Candappa is an Honours Graduate in Mathematics and Chemistry of the University of Colombo. He holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the National Institute of Business Management, Sri Lanka. He has also followed a post Graduate Diploma in Applied Mathematical Statistics at the University of Sri Jayewardenapura.
