CCC Annual Report rewarded at SAFA ‘Best Presented Accounts Award 2010’

The Annual Report of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) received a merit award in the Non-Governmental Organisations Sector at the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Best Presented Accounts Award 2010 held in Dhaka, Bangladesh recently. Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Assistant Accountant Indika Kariyawasam received the award from Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh Muhammad Faruk Khan at the ceremony.

The Awards under different categories are conferred on the basis of evaluation administered by SAFA’s Committee for Improvement in Transparency, Accountability and Governance of the published annual reports of entries from South Asian Countries.  

SAFA is an apex body of the SAARC region and consists of the institutes of chartered accountants and the institutes of cost and management accountants in the SAARC countries who have come together with the objective of development and coordination of the accountancy profession in the SAARC region.

The award recognised the transparent and accountable manner in which the CCC accounts had been presented.

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is an effective spokesman of the Sri Lankan business sector.

Founded in 1839, the institution has been the focal point for business contacts both locally and abroad for more than 172 years. It has many specialised committees, affiliated associations and 21 bilateral business councils promoting international business.

Its members serve on various institutions and committees set up by the Government and the private sector.
