The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) hosted the high level delegation representing the Confederation of Indian Industry, who visited Sri Lanka recently.

The delegation was led by the incumbent President of the CII Adi Godrej, Chairman of the Godrej Group of India and included Rahul Baja, Chairman of Bajaj Auto Ltd. and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, amongst other heads of top most companies in India.

During the discussions with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, it was decided to revive the Joint Task Force between the CII and CCC through which a series of discussions would be initiated towards improving current exports of Sri Lanka to India, identifying new products that could penetrate the Indian market from Sri Lanka as well as Indian products that could find a niche market in Sri Lanka.

Towards this goal, CCC and CII will conduct a joint study within an identified time period, building on the progress achieved through the FTA and with the rationale of greater economic integration.

The delegation also met several key ministers and senior officials of the Government departments during their visit.
