CEAT-Kelani wins National Business Excellence Award for third year

Top tyre manufacturer CEAT-Kelani Holdings has been conferred the prestigious National Business Excellence Award for 2012 by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL).

This is the third consecutive year that the company has won this accolade in the ‘Manufacturing – Other Sector’ at this event, demonstrating sustained business excellence while contributing to the economic progress of the country.

CEAT Kelani Holdings also obtained high scores in other areas of assessment for the award, which included global reach, knowledge integration, technological investment, capacity building, performance management, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.

A 50:50 Joint Venture between CEAT Ltd. India (part of the RPG Group) and  Kelani Tyres PLC of Sri Lanka, CEAT-Kelani Holdings reported a turnover of Rs. 9.6 billion in 2011-12, with strong and consistent double digit growth in both domestic and export sales.

The ‘MileXL’ in the Truck Category and ‘Milaze’ in the passenger car category are some recent introductions in the premium range.

CEAT Kelani Holdings operates three manufacturing units in Sri Lanka manufacturing truck, light truck, radial, motorcycle, three-wheeler and agricultural tyres and employs a workforce of 1,000 people. CEAT Kelani Holdings was also the winner of the Sri Lanka National Quality Award in 2010.
