CEAT wins prestigious 2013 National Quality Award in ‘Manufacturing Large’ category

Sri Lanka’s leading tyre manufacturer CEAT Kelani Holdings has been honoured with the prestigious 2013 National Quality Award in the ‘Manufacturing Large’ category presented by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI). The grand gala award ceremony was held on 14 October at BMICH and CEAT Kelani Managing Director Raman Rajagopalan accepted the award. “This prestigious award reinforces CEAT Kelani’s approach and commitment to quality, robust management systems and processes, enabling consistent performance,” said Rajagopalan. The coveted award, which recognises quality excellence based on the world renowned Malcolm Baldrige model, was judged by panel of industry experts/business leaders against an in-depth scoring criteria covering seven key areas such as ‘Leadership,’ ‘Strategic Planning,’ ‘Customer Focus,’ ‘Measurement/Analysis/Knowledge Management,’ ‘Workforce Engagement,’ ‘Operational Focus’ and ‘Results.’ Commenting on the company’s achievement Rajagopalan said: “This is truly a fitting acknowledgement of the giant strides CEAT Kelani has taken over the last few years. Robust expansions in growing categories, introduction of new products across segments, leveraging on the international R&D strengths of the parent company and customising products to suit the needs of Sri Lankan roads and consumers are a few of the key drivers for growth across categories and our leadership position.”
