The Ceylon Electricity Board has launched a program to provide power supplies within three days of handing over of relevant documents.
Deputy General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board J. Meegoda said that any delays in this regard should be informed through the telephone number 0114 418 418, and any problems relating to the electricity meters should be informed to the Regional Electrical Engineer.
The 24 hour hotline number is 1987. Meegoda said that the on line system as well as the credit cards could be used in the payment of electricity bills.
Meegoda also said that frequent power disruptions may occur during periods of inclement weather due to the fall of trees or branches of trees on power lines, and requested the consumers to remain vigilant on their environments.
Participating in a discussion program of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Meegoda said that the cooperation of the general public in this connection is not adequate.
He said that the Electricity Board was able to prevent power breakdowns that occur due to fall of tree/branches by 85 percent last year, as a result of the consumers cutting off the threatening branches.
