Life insurance leader Ceylinco Life has commenced construction of a showpiece office building in Batticaloa, to significantly enhance its presence in this east coast town. The three-storied building at 32, Lloyd’s Avenue, Batticaloa, will provide the company with 11,136 square feet of office space, out of which a third, the entire ground floor, will be a customer service area.

The first floor will be utilised as office space, while the top floor will have a spacious training room that will benefit staff of the Ceylinco Life’s Batticaloa branch as well as those in nearby branches, the company said. The custom built building and the 24 perches of land on which it will stand are owned by Ceylinco Life.

The building is designed for rainwater harvesting, and will be equipped with split-type air conditioning, a standby generator and a comprehensive fire fighting system and is to be fitted with energy efficient LED and T5 lighting. It is expected to be completed in 14 months.

“Batticaloa has been one of our best performing regions, and this investment in our own purpose designed office will reinforce our leadership, while providing customers with a more spacious and comfortable location to interact with our staff,” said Ceylinco Life’s Managing Director and CEO Mr. R. Renganathan, who laid the foundation stone for the new building.

Ceylinco Life has been present in Batticaloa since 2002 and presently has five branch offices serving the town and its suburbs. The company operates the largest network of more than 200 branches in Sri Lanka’s insurance industry, covering the island’s 25 districts.
