The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is calling applications from corporate firms to compete in the ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2016,’ an annual competition which recognises the corporate sustainability champions in Sri Lanka.
The competition, which commenced 12 years ago is aimed at encouraging the corporate sector to adopt best sustainability practices. It focuses on all stakeholders of the company ranging from employees, customers, community, shareholders, Government and the environment.
The Chamber has lined up a galaxy of awards to recognize the best performers in corporate sustainability initiatives in Sri Lanka, ranging from the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2016, Top ten corporates, Category awards, sector awards to top performers for key sectors of the economy and The Best Presented Application.
In addition to the main award, the “Best Projects Sustainability Awards 2016”, will recognize exemplary projects carried out by companies relating to Planet and People such as Education, Community services etc. The awards giving ceremony will take place on the 30th November, 2016 in Colombo.
In the meantime, Chamber will hold a seminar on 12 August at the Chamber starting at 09.30 am to brief potential competitor firms.
The briefing will be conducted by the expert panel of evaluators and it is intended to guide the corporates on the process of applying for the awards and the expectations of the evaluators.
The target audience for this event would be corporate responsibility managers /CSR managers and the staff engaged in the preparation of application for the BCCS awards.
