Ceylon Chamber Chief Economist to speak at The Management Club

Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chief Economist Anushka Wijesinha will speak at The Management Club (TMC) Members Meet on 18 November at 6:30 p.m. at the Galadari Hotel on the subject ‘Towards a smarter future for the Sri Lankan economy’.

His presentation will focus on ‘What has growth looked like in the recent years and how is this likely to change in the years to come?’; ‘What are some of the competitive challenges facing Sri Lanka?’; ‘What are some emerging mega trends that will influence the future trajectory of the Sri Lankan economy?’ and ‘What are the key ingredients to place the economy on a smarter growth path?’BUP_DFT_DFT-3-15

Wijesinha graduated with a distinction in Masters in Economics and Development from the University of Leeds Business School UK and BSc (Hons) in Economic from the University College London UK. He is an Alumnus of the Nobel Laureates Summer Program of Istituto di Studi Economicie per L’Occupazione (ISEO) Italy. He is also a Member of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Colombo Hub and in 2014 was named a ‘New Champions Awardee’ at the Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions in Tianjin China. 

Anushka has had consultancy stints with the World Bank, ADB, UNDP and GIZ; he has also worked with the Presidential Commission on Taxation and as an Assistant Director of the Economic Affairs Division of the Peace Secretariat. He currently functions as a Non-Executive Independent Director on the Board of Union Assurance General and HNB Grameen Finance.
