Ceylon Chamber import section to hold pre-Budget discussion

The import section of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will hold a pre-Budget discussion on Friday, 12 October 2012, from 9.00 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. at the Ground Floor Audit-orium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce located at 50, Nawam Mawatha, Colombo 2.



The objective of the discussion is to coordinate and support the interests of importers and the business community with that of the decision makers. The event will be an ideal opportunity to listen to key decision makers and express your concerns relevant to your business during the panel discussion.

The learned panel of speakers at the event include S. R. Attygalle, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, who will discuss the Government’s  long and medium term macroeconomic policy framework, Duminda Hulangamuwa, Partner, Ernst & Young Sri Lanka who will address the gathering on taxation and the way forward.

Ranjan De Silva, Past Chairman of the import section and Director, Associated Motorways (Pvt.) Ltd. is scheduled to speak on the expectations of the business community of a budget while Dr. Koshy Mathai, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Sri Lanka and Maldives will speak on the perspective of IMF on the Budget.

This will be followed by a panel discussion consisting of representatives from the Department of Inland Revenue (IRD) and Dr. Sirimal Abeyratne, Head, Department of Economics of the University of Colombo.
