Chamber leaders to highlight SME problems at national forum

Several leaders representing the regional chambers in the country will get on stage during the upcoming “National Forum on SME empowerment 2014” to highlight the issues faced by SMEs, especially the ones operating in the outer regions of the country.
Chamber leaders representing regional Chambers such as the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yalpanam, and the Matara Chamber of Commerce are expected to take part as panellists at the upcoming SME forum.
Lal Keerthi Gunawardana, an entrepreneur himself, will represent the Matara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and will join in to highlight the challenges faced by SMEs in marketing their products and services.
Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce Past President Azmi Thassim will share his thoughts on how to create an enabling environment for SMEs in Sri Lanka by reorienting the public sector and the regulatory climate.
Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yalpanam President K. Poornachandran will explain the importance of access to services for SMEs.
The “National Forum on Small and Medium Enterprises Empowerment 2014”, organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on 13 and 14 October in Colombo, will feature discussion on the current status of the local SME sector and the ways it can move forward.
